Global History and Geography I, or the more commonly used course title, Global 9, is the first year of a two- year course culminating in a Regents Exam given to all students at the end of tenth grade. Throughout the course of the 9th grade we will study the evolution of World History from the origins of civilization through the Age of Revolutions (1750 CE). In addition to history, we will also focus on geography and several important themes such as social, political and economic systems. Along with the content, special attention will be dedicated to reading, writing, speaking, listening, thinking, and study skills. At the end of this year, there will be a Final Exam. Our primary goal is that students successfully complete this course by demonstrating their abilities to: read and comprehend complex historical text, think critically, and express themselves in writing.
